Akums laid its foundation in 2004 when it procured land in SIIDCUL Haridwar. SIIDCUL was in developing stage at that time. Eventually in few years, it provided good infrastructure well maintained, internal transport system with service roads, easy availability of manpower, availability of electricity at competitive price, availability of water, well-functioning drainage systems and greenery maintained all around the industrial estate. Akums group has 8 manufacturing unit, all in SIIDCUL Haridwar. Sara started manufacturing products for Oil and Gas drilling rigs at Dehradun in 1980.
Given the conducive business environment in the state & availability of skilled workforce,
we have continued to expand and today we supply equipment to 62 countries. Have well established Technology Center approved by Govt of India.
The state has been very supportive of industry and this has led us to venture into many other areas, all within the state.
These include manufacture of herbal medicines, real estate, hotel, travel & recently we have added a division for defence production under 'Make in India'.
The State offers excellent industrial infrastructure including world class industrial estates. The recent efforts to

Uttarakhand has attracted many companies in the state in last one decade due to availability of fiscal benefits. Hero MotoCorp also invested more than 2500 crores long with ancillaries to establish its biggest manufacturing facility at Haridwar. Our Haridwar Plant is the world's Largest Two Wheeler Plant with production capacity of 9500 vehicle per day. The plant has clocked an annual turnover of more than 10000 crores last year. This is the most backward integrated plant in the state, where by 70% of the parts in value terms are manufactured in 30 factories located with in 10 kms from Hero MotoCorp plant at SIIDCUL, Haridwar. This project of Hero has generated 20000 direct employment in the state. Uttarakhand has offered industries a conducive socio-political environment & investor friendly policies. Encouraged by well planned infrastructure, uninterrupted power supply, well behaved officials and management and the single window system which is very simple and quick in response provided by SIIDCUL we have recently put up one more unit here and hope for many more.
